Crisis Services + Shelter

The NEWS Safe House is a safe, confidential house located in a residential neighborhood. It is a real home with a beautiful kitchen, private bedrooms and bathrooms, indoor and outdoor play areas for children, and a cozy family room where clients can relax or hold family meetings. NEWS staff is there around the clock to work with clients on individualized plans to find resources for a future free of violence.

24-hour Help Line confidential support is provided by a trained domestic violence counselor in either English or Spanish at 707-255-NEWS (6397).  Anyone is welcome to call us to talk about any experiences or concerns regarding abusive relationships.

Counseling

The LEO program is funded by the Thomas and Karen Leonardini Community Fund. This program was founded after John Wyman LCSW and Domestic Violence Detective, Bill Hernandez conducted a training for Napa County Probation Officers regarding trauma, domestic violence, and strangulation. The LEO Program provides therapeutic counseling to victims of crime from social workers in training while receiving clinical supervising from Mr. Wyman.

Advocacy + Case Management

Our case managers and advocates help survivors understand their options, navigate systems, safety plan, understand their rights and get connected to services for support and healing.

Legal Services

BayLegal’s mission is to provide meaningful access to the civil justice system through quality legal assistance regardless of a client’s location, language or disability.

Children’s Supportive Services

Napa’s Courage Center, a program of the Napa County District Attorney’s Office, is committed to the well-being of children and families. As the only nationally accredited children’s advocacy center serving Napa County, we provide forensic interviews and medical exams for children involved in child abuse investigations. Our dedication to trauma-informed services is evident in the welcoming environment we have designed for children and adolescents.

Elder Abuse

Adult Protective Services (APS) is responding to all reports of elder or dependent adult abuse. APS offers protective services to elderly and people with disabilities who are at risk for abuse, neglect or exploitation by themselves or others.  We investigate reports of alleged abuse and can help the elder or adults with disabilities obtain additional supportive services. The focus of APS is to help support older and disabled adults remain in their own homes.

Anyone can make a confidential or anonymous report if they suspect an older adult or a person with a disability who lives in Napa County, is experiencing abuse or self-neglect.  Please call 707-253-4398 or (toll free) 888-619-6913 if you suspect that an elder or dependent adult is experiencing abuse.

Public Assistance

Self-Sufficiency Services include cash, food, medical, employment assistance.

Medical Forensic Exams

Napa Solano SANE/SART provides qualified professionals to give victim centered care and support in a ‘safe place’, appropriate medical care, emotional support, advocacy, crisis intervention, assistance and education, as well as individual medical-legal examinations. The SANE is a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner who is a Registered Nurse with specialized training in the treatment and care of victims of sexual assault. The SART is a Sexual Assault Response Team of compassionate professionals that provide an immediate, multi-disciplinary response to adolescent and adult victims of sexual assault.
